Q&A Deep Dive · Budget

Do wedding DJs require a deposit, and do they offer payment plans?

Yes on both counts. Here's how SBS Events structures payments — and what to expect from most professional wedding entertainment companies.

The Standard Deposit

SBS Events requires a 25% retainer to lock in your date. Once this is paid, your date is officially reserved on our calendar and we will not book another event for that date.

The retainer is non-refundable but fully transferable — meaning if your date changes (a common occurrence with outdoor Florida weddings during hurricane season), we transfer your retainer to the new date at no penalty.

The Balance and Payment Plans

The remaining balance is typically due 14 days before your event. However, we encourage couples to make payments whenever it's convenient through our client portal.

Log in, click "Make a Payment," enter any amount you'd like to apply — and it deducts from your remaining balance. No minimum monthly payment required, no interest, no fees.

What Payment Methods We Accept

  • All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • ACH bank transfer (recommended for larger payments — no processing fee)
  • Zelle
  • Venmo (for couples who prefer it)

Red Flags to Watch For

Be cautious of DJs who require 100% payment upfront before the event — this is a significant red flag and offers you no protection if something goes wrong. Always get a signed contract before paying any deposit.
