Can we give our wedding DJ a 'Do Not Play' list?

Yes — and we strongly encourage it. Your Do-Not-Play list is arguably more important than your Must-Play list.

Why the Do-Not-Play List Is Critical

Nothing derails a carefully curated dance floor atmosphere faster than a song that half the room hates. Whether it's your ex's favorite song, a genre that feels completely wrong for your vibe, or just an overplayed wedding cliché you never want to hear again — your DJ needs to know.

How to Build One

Specific songs: Be as specific as you need. "No Shout," "No Macarena," "No Chicken Dance." We've heard them all and we respect them all.

Artists: If there's an artist whose music you can't stand, list them. We won't play a single track from their catalog.

Genres: "Keep it clean — no explicit lyrics." "No country music." "No heavy metal." Genre restrictions help us understand your crowd as much as your favorite songs do.

Crowd-specific blocks: If you know your uncle requests "Wonderwall" at every family gathering and you're done with it — put it on the list.

Using Our Client Portal

Every SBS Events couple gets access to our planning portal before their wedding. Inside, you have a dedicated Do-Not-Play section where you can add songs, artists, or notes. We review this list 30 days before your wedding and confirm it during our final planning call.

On the night of your wedding, we enforce your list strictly — even if a guest requests something on it. You're our client, not your guests.

Still have questions? We answer every inquiry personally.
